November Favorites

This has been a weird month. I've felt a bit like I've lost my sparkle and there hasn't been much (ok anything) in the news to help pull me out of this funk. That said, it is not all doom and gloom! I'm doing a lot more writing (more to come on this), and have done a lot of catching up with old friends. There's nothing like being with someone who knows you and has known you. The ease, the not having to explain it all or even anything, all the shared experiences, it's a very special thing. What have I loved besides all of this old friend time? Let's get into it...

Shoe Love

There was an almost-31-year-old lady (*still shuddering at that number*) who lived in a shoe... But seriously, I have gotten three new pairs of shoes this month and I am pretty smitten with all of them. I needed some non-sneakers, non-dress-up shoes and found discovered that Tom's has really stepped it up. From a great pair of black leather, loafery, slip-ons to these rose gold, distressed leather statement shoes, I feel like this void in my shoe collection has been sufficiently filled.

It was early and I thought I was being artistic.

Then came #CyberMonday and though not on sale, I did need a new pair of every day sneakers. Enter these Saucony Jazz Original Vintage pink beauties. Sold.

Hello, I love you.

Ladybird

This week it was announced that Ladybird is the best reviewed movie on Rotten Tomatoes . Tbh, I'm not sure if it deserves this title, but it is VERY good! I̶'̶m̶ ̶p̶l̶e̶a̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶g̶l̶o̶a̶t̶ I saw the movie when it first came out and there is something about it that stays with you a bit. It's not a new story per se, but it's so full of heart, it's so relatable, and you genuinely like the characters, at least I did (except for well, you'll see, but you won't hate her). It's a coming-of-age movie in the best and non-cheesy sense of the term and made me so appreciate everything that I have and all that my parents have done for me. Do I sound totally ridiculous? Yeah, that's what I thought. Go see it.

I know the poster is a little strange but believe the hype. Or don't and go see whatever comic book movie is playing. PC: flickeringmyth.com

Andi Bag

Apparently all of my possessions got together and decided to get holes, die, etc. this month and my gym bag was no exception. Serendipitously, Andi had a little pop-up situation going on at Cyc Chelsea one morning and I got to look at their line and they were giving out 20% off discount cards. I settled on the Andi Diamond Black and OMFG you guys this is the bag I never knew I needed. It's basically weightless, the straps are comfy, has so many pockets, is machine washable(!!!), and if I was so inclined I could turn it into a backpack or create loops to carry a yoga mat. I have never babied a gym bag and yet I find myself cringing a little each time I put it on the floor or in a locker. I just want the best for my Andi. #HelicopterMom

Thanksgiving

I headed up to my parents' house in Westchester where I flexed my icing-writing muscle to make our traditional turkey cookie place cards. Fast-forward to an evening filled with family, fun, and food for at least 40. I got to spend a decent part of the next day with my mom and even snuck in some time with my sister. Always too short, but it was very nice. The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, watching too many (is there such a thing?) Hallmark Christmas movies, and seeing people. I vowed not to work and I held myself to it, which wasn't always easy, but I'm so glad that I did.

I'm not sure when we started the cookie place card tradition. If we get any bigger, we'll have to stop, I can only do so many before my hand gives out. This burlap-y table cloth gives me all the #fallfeels but she's clearly not very photogenic.

I have a good feeling about December. At the very least, it's going to be very eventful!

What were your November favorites? Anyone else feeling the mean reds? (Bonus points if you get that reference!)
